Diversity - Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment in Psychological and Brain Sciences
Dr. Denise Leonard, WUSTL Center for Teaching and Learning
Inclusive learning spaces empower students to be creative, collaborative, and authentic as they gain disciplinary knowledge and skills for future careers. This training will focus on how instructors (graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and faculty assistants) can support and shape an inclusive learning environment by:
- Defining key terms related to inclusive teaching
- Understanding the learning benefits of taking an inclusive approach to instruction
- Examining inclusive teaching practices that enhance students’ abilities to participate in classroom activities
- Navigating challenging conversations when difficult moments in the classroom arise
*This training is ideal for instructors looking to demonstrate their understanding and application of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom as they prepare job market or promotion materials.*
