Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Talk - "Frameworks and Interventions to Interrupt the Psychological Impact of Racism"

Kira H. Banks, Ph.D. Department of Psychology Saint Louis University

Decades of research has solidified the deleterious effects of racism. However, a smaller body of research has endeavored to interrupt these direct relationships. Dr. Kira Banks’ research explores the underlying mechanisms and how we can use psychological concepts to develop interventions to interrupt the psychological impact of racism. In this talk, she will offer frameworks for how we can contribute to this body of work through our research and practice. Dr. Banks will also share an evidence-based intervention she has created in her lab to effectively mitigate negative effects of racism in Black women.
