Using Memory to Guide Attentional Control in Older Adulthood

Julie Bugg, PhD

Normal aging is associated with declines in memory and attentional control, yet older adults perform as well as younger adults in remembering past experiences in which irrelevant information had to be ignored. This talk will introduce the audience to research on aging and reactive control, including evidence that measuring reactive control may distinguish normal aging from the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

This seminar is part of the monthly Issues in Aging series that highlights current research and perspectives on aging-relevant issues from experts in medicine, social work, psychology, law, and more.
