Research Assistant Position at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB) at Weill Cornell Medicine

 

The ASD and Developmental Science Lab (PI: So Hyun “Sophy” Kim, Ph.D.; https://www.kimasdlab.com/) at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB) at Weill Cornell Medicine is currently seeking full-time research assistants to work on research studies on children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) including NIH funded studies examining early autism symptoms and validating innovative, early interventions for toddlers with ASD (PIs: Sophy Kim, Cathy Lord, Adriana DiMartino, Jim Rehg).  The RA's primary responsibilities include behavioral coding, subject recruitment, testing participants with standardized assessments as well as play-based assessments, managing and analyzing datasets, and preparing and maintaining IRB protocols. Based on the previous experience and qualifications, the RA will be also trained to deliver interventions to target language skills in toddlers with ASD.

 

The expected start date for the position is Summer 2020. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like to gain research experience prior to attending graduate school.

Position Activities

Codes videos of parent child interactions.

Recruits subjects for research studies based on study recruitment criteria.

Deliver interventions to children with ASD (for qualified candidates).

Maintains paper and electronic research and clinical records.

Organizes, schedules, and conducts clinical research assessments using specialized interviews and psychological assessment measures (e.g., cognitive testing, such as Mullen Scales for Early Learning, and autism testing, such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)).

Conducts literature searches and provides manuscript preparation support.

Assists with preparation of grant proposals and IRB applications and amendments.

Collects and updates data sets including test scores, demographics, and training records.

Carries out and prepares written reports of simple statistical analyses.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field and related experience.

Transportation required for local travel.

Previous intervention experiences with children with ASD preferred, but not required.

 

Highly Desired Requirements

Experience with autism or with children and families with developmental disabilities or mental health issues preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities

Superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Familiarity with software including EPrime, R, SPSS, MS Word, Access, and PowerPoint. SAS, Stat, Medline, PsychInfo, and other library resources are advantageous.

Must be able to coordinate a large data set with accuracy and provide timely dissemination of information arising from it.
